I wanted generic suburban Chinese takeout but it would of been good of me to cook so I cooked this.
Takeout Beef & Broccoli
Chinese takeout beef & broccoli.
Ingredients
- 4 oz beef steak (or pretty much whatever protein), sliced into strips
- 1 c broccoli florets
- 1 tbsp mirin (or white wine)
- 1 tbsp tamari (or soy sauce)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- Pinch of potato starch (or corn starch)
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 2 small jalapenos, sliced (or red chiles)
- 1 small shallot, diced
- 1 scallion, white part & green part, sliced
- White rice
- Neutral oil or frying
Instructions
- Combine oyster sauce, tamari, mirin & sesame oil. Add in half each of the ginger, garlic & jalapenos. Add in white part of the shallot. Marinate beef for ~30 min.
- Add oil to hot pan. Add remaining ginger, garlic & jalapenos.
- Fry broccoli briefly. Remove from heat.
- Add marinated beef to pan. Cook through, then add in additional marinade plus starch to thicken slightly.
- Turn off heat and toss with broccoli.
- Serve with rice. Garnish with scallion.
- Enjoy.
